 Definition Of Simile

     A simile is figure of speech that makes a comparison,showing similarities between two different things.unlike a metaphor,simile draws resemblance with the help of the words like or as.Simile as a Form of Comparison Using similes are very effective.The use of similes serves to explain a concept that might be difficult to grasp. The benefit of using a simile is to create clarity of a statement by point of comparison,allowing the receiver to develope his own interpretation using the point of comparison that the simile suggests.A figure of speech bringing color to our daily converse.Using similes will highlight detail and add character to any description.

Function Of Simile
     We can infer the  function of simile both in our everyday life as well as in literature. using similes attracts the attention and appeals directly to te senses of listeners or readers encouraging their imagination to comprehend what is being communicated.in addition,it inspires  life-like quality inour daily talks and in the characters of fiction or poetry .simile allows readers to relate the feelings of a writer or a poet to their experiences.The use of similes make it easier for the readers to understand thesubject matter of a literary text,which may have been other wise too demanding to be comprehend .like metaphors, similes also offer variety in our ways of thinking and offers new perspectives of viewing the world.

   Example Of Simile
Ø  He is a funny as a monkey.
Ø    The water well was as dry as a bone.
Ø  He is as cunning as a fox.
Ø   My girlfriend is as pretty as a dool.
Ø    My sister is a quit as mouse.
So, simile using like, as though, as if, as..as, so…as.
